The Staff Spotlight will highlight staff from all of our departments within ADVS including our Executive staff, Veterans Services Division, Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemeteries, Arizona State Veteran Homes and more!
This week’s Staff Spotlight features our Southern Region Veterans Benefits Counselor Vine Bahe!
Name: Vine Bahe
Role at ADVS: Veterans Benefits Counselor
When did you start at ADVS: August 5, 2023
Did you serve in the military: Yes, I served for eight years as a machine gunner for route clearance operations in the Marine Corps and a PO2 Seabee and BU2 Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist and Expeditionary Warfare Specialist in the Navy.
Did anyone in your family serve: My dad and two sisters also served
What do you do at ADVS: I help connect Veterans to benefits.
Why did you decide to join ADVS: I volunteered my time as an outreach representative and ambassador for various Veteran non-profit organizations throughout Southern Arizona as well as advocating for Veterans within the Pima County Adult Probation system as a Veteran Court Mentor. I wanted to take the next step in starting a career to continue serving Veterans.
Why is your job important to helping Arizona Veterans: I get to help them obtain the benefits that they, and their families deserve.
What do you enjoy about working at ADVS: I enjoy helping the Veterans of the Tohono O'odham Nation. I myself, am Dine and grew up on the Navajo Nation before joining the Marines and Arizona's Tribal nations need more representation and advocacy. I enjoyed my time connecting and networking with tribal entities with nonprofit organizations and enjoy it now with the State of Arizona.
Outside of ADVS, what do you enjoy doing: I enjoy spending time with my kids. I still work and network with Veteran nonprofit organizations for Veterans mental health awareness and promoting physical fitness with a partner gym. I also play electric and acoustic guitar and go to concerts, play video games and Twitch streaming, camp, hike, watch horror movies, anime and build Legos.
Thank you for the work you do for our Arizona Veterans!
