ASVH-Phoenix Gets A Facelift!
PHOENIX, Ariz.- Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of volunteers from all around the country, the residents at the Arizona State Veterans’ Home in Phoenix are enjoying some new upgrades to their home.
In October, more than 700 volunteers with the Home Depot Foundation and HandsOn Greater Phoenix came to ASVH-Phoenix to remodel several parts of the home to improve the look and add a nicer quality of living to the space.
The volunteers painted resident rooms and hallways; built a garden outside for residents to enjoy; painted and designed new lounge rooms to relax in; and cleaned and updated all of the outdoor spaces around the facility, including installing a new gazebo in the courtyard.
“Our top priority is to care for our Veterans and it means so much to us as an agency to have the community come together to support our residents and help improve their quality of life with a nice home that they can be proud to live in,” said ADVS Director John Scott.
The Home Depot Foundation supports Veterans across the country, working to improve the lives and homes of those who fought for our freedoms. HandsOn Greater Phoenix nominated the facility because of the continued dedication and service ASVH-Phoenix provides for our Veterans.
Staff at ASVH-Phoenix said the residents have been enjoying the renovations, especially the new outdoor spaces to relax and spend some time.
“We are so grateful that our Veteran home was chosen by the Home Depot Foundation, it was really incredible to see so many people come together to help our Veterans out,” said ASVH-Phoenix Home Administrator Jermaine Williams.
