FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.-The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services (ADVS) is pleased to announce the opening of a new skilled-nursing home that serves the Veterans of northern Arizona.

The Arizona State Veteran Home in Flagstaff (ASVH-Flagstaff) held its grand opening ceremony on Veterans Day, welcoming Veterans and the Flagstaff community to the facility.

Governor Katie Hobbs was in attendance, taking a private tour of the facility and meeting with Veteran leaders in the community before speaking at the Grand Opening ceremony.

“I am the daughter, granddaughter and daughter in-law of Veterans so that spirit of sacrifice is something I grew up with and shaped me into the person I am today,” Governor Hobbs said. “I want to make sure that our Veterans, who are such a critical part of the fabric of our state, are not forgotten… it is so sure we ensure they receive the support they deserve.”

ASVH-Flagstaff is an 80-bed Medicare-certified, skilled-nursing care facility, serving the long-term care and rehabilitative needs of our Veterans. The facility was initially meant to open in spring 2023, but unforeseen circumstances delayed the opening.

The ASVH-Flagstaff staff welcomed its first three residents into the home on Halloween.

“We have so much to be grateful for, the doors of this beautiful facility have finally opened and we can now take care of our Veterans. It is fitting that on Veterans Day we celebrate those who made many sacrifices to secure our liberties,” said ADVS Director John Scott.

At the Grand Opening, more than 250 community members from all across Arizona joined the ASVH-Flagstaff staff for the momentous occasion.

“I am a Marine Corps Veteran so for me to stand before you today to recognize the continued efforts to support and care for our Arizona Veterans on Veterans Day is something that means more to me than I can express. We had our first residents walk through the door just weeks ago and we have already seen the impact this home has made for our Veterans,” said ASVH-Flagstaff Home Administrator Cameron Farr.

After the ceremony, a small reception was held and guests were invited to tour the facility and learn more about the staff and resources available to Veterans.
