Honorary Diploma Program
Arizona’s Honorary Diploma program recognizes the life experiences and contributions of honorably discharged veterans who were unable to complete their high school education because of service in the armed forces during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, pursuant to Chapter 56 (HB2549) and Chapter 19 (HB2450). The Honorary Diploma program was originally introduced in 2001 and amended in 2009.
To obtain an honorary diploma, a veteran may submit a request to ADVS to receive a diploma from the Arizona high school of their choosing. Additionally, guidelines allow for a surviving spouse or other immediate family member of a deceased veteran to request the diploma. In order to qualify for the program, the veteran submitting must meet the following criteria:
- Currently reside in the state
- Provide documented evidence from ADVS that the person enlisted in the armed forces of the United States and served in World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War
- Honorably discharged
