Organization: 6-ADVS

Steph Spera is the Assistant Deputy Director of Finance. She is responsible for developing and managing the financial needs of the agency, including budgeting, accounting, grants management, and procurement, and ensuring that each of these areas are in compliance with State statute, rules, and federal guidelines.

Prior to moving to Arizona, Steph worked at 211 and the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. During that time, she found a passion for connecting people to the resources they need and empowering people who were struggling with the intricacies of mental health. She is excited to use that passion to support the veterans of Arizona.

Her work in State service includes three years in the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting, where she managed a portfolio of eleven state agencies throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Following OSPB, she worked for the Department of Health Services as a Division Finance Manager. Her role there was to monitor the budgets for the Divisions of Administration, Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Preparedness, as well as assist with various analytical projects and communicate complex financial information to agency stakeholders.

Steph holds a Masters in Public Administration and a Masters in International Affairs from Syracuse University, and a Bachelors in History from St. John Fisher College.
