Charles Byers
Charles "Chuck" Byers moved to Arizona in August 2012, from New Jersey. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972. He served as a combat medic in Vietnam from July 1967 to June 1968. He was in the ninth Infantry division 2/60th stationed in the Mekong Delta. Charles was wounded on June 1, 1968, and spent six months as a patient in Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. After recovering, he stayed in the service and entered the Walter Reed Army Nursing program; he graduated in 1970. He worked in Walter Reed Army Hospital and spent six months on the Presidential ward. He discharged from the service in 1972. Charles has received two awards, the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

- Help build a strong Volunteer VSO Program for AZ
- Currently on the Veterans Benefits Committee for the National VVA
- 2nd Vice President Chapter 1011 East Valley VVA, Served as a Congressional Liaison for Military and Veterans Affairs For Congresswoman Lesko AZ08
- Inducted to Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame 2018
- Serving as Chair for Veterans Healthcare –Vietnam Veterans of America
